The Hair Historian

(Clockwise) The hair museum I created and hosted for Pantene’s 80-year anniversary, Jim Shaw’s wig museum where I gave a keynote speech on the history of wigs for Antwerp’s Museum of Contemporary Art and a copy of Kajal Odedra’s book Hair/Power for which I was interviewed

The Hair Historian began life as an Instagram account combining my main interests of hair, art, and history. It has since become a bigger, broader platform for me to share my knowledge – and passion for – the culture of aesthetics in print, online, and through events and lectures.

I’ve researched, written and contributed to features for titles including: ABC Australia, Air Mail, Allure, AnOther, Bustle, CNN, Cosmopolitan, CR Fashion Book, Dazed, Guardian, Harper's Bazaar, i-D, InStyle, Politico, Refinery 29, SETTE, SSense, Tatler, Teen Vogue, Time, The Cut, The New York Times, The Telegraph, The Times, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, Vogue.com, Vogue Italia, Vogue US, W, Wall Street Journal, WhoWhatWear

I’ve also worked with galleries and institutions to help them stay ahead of cultural conversations around beauty, giving guest lectures for the Courtauld Institute, Antwerp's Museum of Contemporary Art (M HKA) and Babson College in Wellesley.

As a guest expert, I’ve also produced content for Art UK and BBC Bitesize education, and appeared on podcasts including Fat Mascara and Something You Should Know, as well as numerous BBC radio shows, Five News and Australia's Channel7.

I’ve produced press events for brands including Pantene, Schwarzkopf Professional and ghd, taking activations from ideation through to hosting, seamlessly bringing together brand messaging alongside broader cultural and historical conversations.

I’m passionate about giving hair the recognition it deserves – academically, culturally and socially – and exploring the bigger picture of why we do what we do, and the role aesthetics plays in that.
