Hi! I'm Rachael; a London-based hair editor and producer with ten years of experience.
I studied Fashion Design (BA) at Manchester Metropolitan University before gaining an MA in Fashion Journalism from the London College of Fashion.
I'm a hair editor, working on social media, content and copy for hair brands including ghd, Schwarzkopf Professional, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing and Indola.
My side project is The Hair Historian; an Instagram account combining art history and hair history – as featured on the BBC, InStyle, Refinery 29, The Cut, ELLE, Mashable, Art UK and AnOther.
Previously, I worked as a producer at Mastered creating their online session styling courses with Guido and Sam McKnight. I produced the video content with Guido, Sam and countless other experts, as well as writing the syllabus and copy for the classroom. I continue to work as a mentor for students on the Hair, Makeup and Nails programs, providing guidance, support and coaching on social media, branding and press relations.
Before Mastered, I spent five years as web editor for www.HJi.co.uk – the online home of the 135-year-old title Hairdressers Journal, aka ‘the Bible of the hairdressing industry’ (and the brains behind the British Hairdressing Awards and Salon International).
Prior to that, I was the acting editor on the Scissorhands Media portfolio of consumer hair titles; Hair Now, Hair & Beauty Inspirations, Perfect Hair and www.findasalon.co.uk.
It’s safe to say, I know a thing or two about hair. (And I'm pretty into hair metal, too.)
